Mikkey Tarantino | Watercolor Painter

Mikkey, Michalyn Sangi TarantinoAbout Mikkey and her Bio:

The family story says, “Mikkey” ran away from home at age seven, packing only her Crayolas. These crayons gave way to charcoal and oils when formal art lessons began at age nine, and continued through college years, leading to a degree in art education. The need to create and for artistic expression have driven her life in many forms besides drawing and painting—piano, sewing, fabric manipulation, embroidery, and doll making.

In 1996 the desire to paint again led her to watercolors. She has studied with Nancy Barch, Jean Uhl Spicer, Ann Pember, Nita Leland, and Roberta Carter Clark among others. In 2006, she added teaching—and giving back—to her watercolor agenda. Mikkey finds joy in teaching what inspires her creativity.

Mikkey has consistently received awards and recognition for her work. In both 2005 and 2012 she received the New Jersey Watercolor Society Medal of Honor. The fall edition of American Artists Watercolor Magazine, 2006, chose her as One of Twenty Emerging Artists. In 2007 she was selected by the Monmouth Museum as one of “Six Emerging Artists in New Jersey”. Mikkey’s paintings are shown in Nita Leland’s books, ‘The New Creative Artist’ and ‘Confident Color’ published by North Light Books.

Mikkey and husband, Bob, now reside on Long Beach Island, NJ and winter in Charles Town, WV.
